Percy Underwood was a young man who went missing one day on his way home. The diver pictured here was part of the search party for him.

Tom Ayres (left) with his brother-in-law, Dennis Singleton. Tom and Violet Ayres lived in Boot Cove during this time period. Tom ran a logging business on the island, his log dump was located in Boot Cove.

The Westerner

L-R: Don Bellamy and Jim Money Sr. Don & Jim found this boat, The Westener, grounded on the beach about 400-500 feet west of the Group of 30 Common House. All lives on board were lost due to asphyxiation caused by frozen over vents. John Money accompanied his father. It was a very sad day for all.
